Background
Heedayah Azouz completed her Bachelor's degree (First-Class Honours) in Biotechnology, with a minor in Chemistry, at Sultan Qaboos University (Muscat, Oman), where she graduated first in the College of Science. During her undergraduate studies, she developed research experience in environmental biotechnology, microbiology, and sustainable approaches for addressing environmental challenges.
Following graduation, Heedayah worked as a Research Assistant, where she explored the potential of deep eutectic solvents (DESs) at the interface of biotechnology, sustainability, and green chemistry. Her research contributed to advancing the understanding of DES properties and applications, resulting in publications in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
She is currently an MSc by Research student at Cranfield University, where her research focuses on the sustainable management of seawater desalination brine in collaboration with Anglian Water. Her current work aims to advance circular water management by investigating strategies for recovering valuable resources from desalination waste streams. Her broader research interests include sustainable water treatment, resource recovery, green chemistry, microbiology, and environmental biotechnology.
