Background

Gideon Kilonzo completed a BEng in Aeronautical Engineering course at the Technical University of Kenya and graduated with a first-class honours' degree in 2015.

He then joined Cranfield University, UK in 2018 and pursued a Master of Science degree in Thermal Power (aerospace Propulsion Option). His MSc thesis was on the gas path diagnostics of a gas turbine engine using real field data.

Currently, Gideon Kilonzo is on study leave and has been working as a tutorial fellow in the school of Aerospace and vehicle engineering of the Technical University of Kenya in Nairobi, Kenya since 2019.

Here at Cranfield, Gideon Kilonzo is pursuing his PhD on research title" Modelling and Analysis of Opposed Piston composite cycle aero-engine concepts."

Current activities

The current research is part of the EU horizon's MINIMAL Project, and it involves the conceptual design of the hydrogen fuelled opposed piston engine core, performance modelling and optimization of the composite engine architectures and mission level analysis of the climate optimized composite cycle engine.
