Background

Gary graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Economics and Transport before continuing with a SERC funded MPhil postgraduate research project on the passenger perception of regional airline service levels in the UK and USA. This was undertaken in conjunction with Air UK, Empire Airlines, The University of Plymouth, MIT and the University of California.

After completing his postgraduate research, Gary worked in the aviation industry for airlines Air UK, KLM and later Air France-KLM.This included during the Air UK period the launch of Stansted as Londons third airport and during the KLM period, the take-over of Braathens,the JV with Northwest and later Delta, the merger/de-merger with Alitalia and finally the merger and integration with Air France. During this period he held several different management positions in Market Research, Special Projects, Commercial Planning, Market Development, Key Account Management, International Sales and Marketing, Airline Alliances and Ground Services while living and working in various parts of the world including the UK, Scandinavia,The Netherlands and the Asia-Pacific region based in Singapore.

Gary joined Cranfield University as Senior Lecturer in Air Transport Management in 2019.
