Background

Farhad has obtained BSc in petroleum engineering followed by the successful completion of an MSc in Renewable energy engineering at Cranfield University (UK) in 2018. The main area of research through his MSc has been the valorisation of pyrolytic char derived through the pyrolysis of biomass and waste materials with an aim to produce activated carbon for contaminant adsorption from pyrolytic liquid and gaseous fuels.

Current activities

Farhad has joined Cranfield University as a PhD researcher in energy and power since February 2019. His field of research covers the application of small-scale thermal treatment technologies. Currently, design and chemical process optimisation of ATT processes (pyrolysis) as well as fuel characterisation constitute his primary area of focus. Additionally, his activities include the design and refinement of pre-treatment technologies (i.e. drying). The research project is sponsored by Garrandale Ltd. aiming to address the challenges observed with the on-site management of sewage waste in railway rolling stock.
