Current activities
Fang-Yi is carrying out her PhD research with Cranfield Forensic Institute, University of the West of England Bristol, the National Museum of the Royal Navy and the Mary Rose Trust. The research aims to gain a comprehensive understanding of the degradation and preservation state of the oak timbers in HMS Victory and Mary Rose, to inform strategies for long-term preservation. Additionally, her research will use 3D imaging methods to build timber model samples in various states and display them to visitors. By presenting the work to the public, the importance of heritage conservation can gain broader concern and support.
Fang-Yi is part of the South, West and Wales Consortium II Doctoral Training Partnership funded by the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
