Background
Emmanuel Onuchukwu Izuwa completed his BEng and MSc in Mechanical Engineering. His passion for Automation, Robotics, and digital twin technologies led him to pursue a career in Intelligent Automation. He is currently a Researcher in Intelligent Automation at Cranfield University.
His work focuses on the development of advanced manufacturing solutions, particularly in the aerospace sector. Metrology enabled quality inspection systems and digital twin solutions for aircraft inspection and assembly. He is particularly interested in Digital Twin Technologies, Automated Assembly and Inspection Cells, Connected Metrology, Robotics for Automation in Manufacturing, Embedded Systems, and Aerospace Engineering.
Research opportunities
My research interests lie heavily in robotics. Every research project I have participated in has focused on developing or improving technologies that advance the capabilities of robotic systems. This includes the use of metrology tools to build advanced sensing systems, enabling robots to perceive their environments more effectively and interact more intelligently with the physical world. These perception frameworks have been applied to create modular positioning systems for aircraft wing assembly and to develop predictive metrology systems that facilitate metrology data reconstruction.
My PhD research is focused on the development of a closed-loop position measuring system using IoT-enabled retroreflectors.
Current activities
