Background

Ariye Ebikabowei is a seasoned telecom industry engineer and regulatory professional with a robust background in the telecommunications and energy sectors. He holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Rivers State University and a master’s degree in engineering management from the University of Port Harcourt.

Ebikabowei began his career as an Operations and Maintenance Engineer with Celtel Nigeria Limited which was later known as Zain and Bharti Airtel, where he gained hands-on experience in telecom network operations. He subsequently joined LM Ericsson Limited as a Power and Facility Support Engineer, and later worked with Huawei Technologies, further deepening his expertise in telecom infrastructure and power systems. In 2018, he joined American Tower Wireless Infrastructure as a Regulatory Officer. Between 2018 and 2025, he played key roles in legal and regulatory compliance, operations, community liaison, and security, contributing to policy implementation and stakeholder (community, ministries, departments, agencies, tiers of government) engagement within and outside the industry.

Currently, Ebikabowei is a PhD researcher at Cranfield University, specializing in energy and sustainability. His research focuses on developing resilient and sustainable telecommunication infrastructure frameworks for Nigeria, leveraging renewable energy, autonomous systems, and policy innovation. With a career that bridges technical operations and regulatory affairs, he brings a unique interdisciplinary perspective to sustainable infrastructure development.
