Background

Dr Ying Qin is a postdoctoral researcher at Cranfield Water Science Institute. Her research focuses on electrochemical and photoelectrochemical sensing for environmental monitoring, with particular interests in the design of sensing interface and materials.

Her current work contributes to the UK-China collaborative project on antimicrobial resistance (AMR), exploring antibiotic resistance genes in water and wastewater. She is interested in integrating molecular recognition with accessible sensing platforms to support environmental surveillance within a One Health frame.

Current activities

Contributing to the UK–China collaborative project on antimicrobial resistance through the development of photoelectrochemical sensors for water and wastewater analysis.

Current activities include establishing a photoelectrochemical measurement platform, investigating signal responses under light and dark conditions, and exploring the integration of CRISPR/Cas12a recognition with photoelectrochemical signal transduction for antibiotic resistance gene detection. Complementary paper-based fluorescence and colorimetric approaches are also being explored to support portable environmental analysis.
