Contact Dr Sakethraman Mahalingam

Background

Dr. Saketh Mahalingam is a Research Consultant at Aramco Europe and is based in Aberdeen. He works on developing new sensors for measuring flow and composition of hydrocarbons. Prior to Aramco, he led the development of the impedance tomography for the Safire™ Multiphase Meter at General Electric and the downhole water-cut meter at Baker Hughes. He serves as a member of the Committee of Petroleum Measurement at both the American Petroleum Institute (API) and the British Standards Institution (BSI). He graduated with a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in the US in 2005.

Current activities

Dr. Saketh Mahalingam works with Cranfield University in the areas of flow assurance, measurement and instrumentation. He has advised and sponsored several MSc projects within the Energy & Power program on the use of Coriolis flow meters for multiphase flow. The outcomes of the research collaboration have been published at the prestigious North Sea Flow Measurement Workshop and the Offshore Technology Conference over the past 4 years. He is presently actively collaborating on multiphase flow process modelling with a particular focus on CO2 reinjection modelling.
