Contact Dr Kathy Gammon

Background

Kathy graduated with a degree in Genetics from Cardiff University before gaining her PhD in the classification and gene transfer of plasmids isolated from river environment, also at Cardiff University. After taking some postdoctoral research in microbiology, and working in industries such as Johnson & Johnson, and GlaxoSmithKline, Kathy joined the Defence Science & Technology Laboratory (Dstl) in 2006 as a Senior Scientist. Kathy has worked as a geneticist for both microbiology and human research. Her current research interests focus of DNA forensics, providing advice and solutions for the home office and military customers.

Kathy joined Cranfield University as a visiting Fellow in 2020.

Current activities

Kathy provides guest lectures to students on the topic of DNA forensics, the past, present and future capabilities and what it means for identity intelligence.
