Background

Prior to joining Cranfield University, Dr JF Pons completed a PhD in organic chemistry from the University of Montpellier (France) in 1996 in the lab of Prof. Jean Martinez.

In 1997, he joined Prof. Andrew Parsons' group at the University of York for a two-year post-doctoral position in organic radical chemistry.

He then worked as a senior scientist, team leader, project leader at Evotec (a CRO in the pharmaceutical industry) for 16 years, where he was in charge of a number of medicinal chemistry projects across a variety of biological targets (cancer, viral, obesity...). Dr Pons was involved in a large diversity of chemistries, ranging from peptide, nucleoside and steroid to heterocyclic chemistry.
