Background

Dr Dhinesh Thanganadar is a Research Fellow at Cranfield University, UK. He received his Bachelor degree in Mechanical engineering with first-class distinction from Anna University, India in 2009.

He worked in power generation industry for eight years including coal-fired thermal power plant, combined cycle power plant and first of a kind demonstration project of linear concentrated solar power plant as a performance engineer.

Dr Thanganadar completed PhD at Cranfield University, which is funded by Biomass and Fossil Fuel Research Alliance (BF2RA), UK in 2020. His PhD is about investigating the performance of supercritical carbon dioxide cycles for power generation application integrated with thermal energy storage for three different heat sources such as coal, natural gas and concentrated solar. During his PhD, he secured Erasmus+ mobility award and UKCCSRC ECR collaboration fund, which enabled collaborating with Dipartimento di Meccanica, Matematica e Management (DMMM), Politecnico di Bari, Italy and IPESE, EPFL, Switzerland. He also secured the Sir Richard Stapley award. During his PhD, he also worked as a part-time research assistant, supporting HyPer project.

Currently, Dr Thanganadar is working on a couple of European Horizon 2020, US-DOE research projects and Innovate UK project. Furthermore, he is a tutor for Advanced Heat Engineering (formally known as Energy Systems and Thermal Processes) MSc course.
