Background

Following an BSc in Physics (University of Birmingham) David's career started by selling lasers, before coming back into academia, training as a Physics Teacher and completing a PhD in Nuclear Physics (University of Birmingham), before working for 14 years in the public engagement of Science.

Some of this time was spent in science museums and running his own company, but the majority was spent working at the UK's national Synchrotron, Diamond Light Source where he was the Public Engagement Manager.

In 2023 a career change saw David complete a Masters Degree in Environmental Management at Cranfield University, where studies investigating public attitdues towards low carbon buildings led him to start a PhD investigating public perceptions of desalination within the Water department.

Research opportunities

David is researching the public perceptions and attitudes towards desalinated water, specifially in the East England region, examining the influences as well as the perceptions and attitudes themselves.
