Background
Chris obtained his BEng in Computer Systems Engineering from Sussex University in 1990. He then spent 13 years working for RARDE/DRA/DERA/Qinetiq working on:
- Research in ignition and growth of reaction in energetic materials
- Development of computer models and experiments for model validation
- large-scale trials planning
- project management.
Chris joined Cranfield University in 2004 and his role has included:
- Initiation sensitiveness and sensitivity
- EMTAP (Energetic Materials Testing and Assessment Policy) testing
- MSc project supervision
Current activities
Chris is Head of the Test and Evaluation Group in Cranfield University's Centre for Defence Chemistry. His interests include:- Measurement methods for sensitivity and detonation performance
- Development of test methods for stockpile assurance
- Development of qualification methods for new energetic materials.
