Background
Chris received a B.Eng. degree in Electronic Engineering, and an M.Eng. and Ph.D. degrees in Electronic Engineering (Telecommunications) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka, in 2011, 2015, and 2021 respectively. He also obtained a second Ph.D. from the School of Engineering and Physical Sciences, Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, UK in 2022. He has been awarded the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), Nigeria overseas Ph.D. sponsorship in 2018, and an Erasmus Mobility Student (under the DREAM Project ACP-18) at the Universita degli studi di Cagliari, Italy, from 2015 to 2016.
Chris is an experienced researcher with over nine years of career experience within the university and research groups. Previously, he was an academic staff of the University of Nigeria Nsukka, and a Research Assistant at Heriot-Watt University. Currently, he is a Research Fellow at Cranfield University. His research interests include UAV, UTM, ATM, NGN, network security, resource allocation, simulation, and modeling. He consulted for EarSwitch Ltd., DSTL, and European Space Agency (ESA) on ultrasound, radar, and small satellite deployment projects.
He has authored and co-authored several academic papers and proceedings. Chris is a member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET), Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE), the European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP), the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN), and the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE). He is also an Associate Fellow of AdvanceHE (AFHEA) and a member of the review panel for the IEEE Wireless Communication Letters, IEEE Transactions on Vehicular Technology, IEEE Communication Letters, Elsevier's Cogent Engineering journals, etc.
Current activities
Chris is currently working on future flight phase 3 projects. The projects entail synthetic environment development and novelties in UTM/ATM integration. He is actively involved in these projects:
Researcher of project HADO (High-intensity Autonomous Drone Operations), 2022-2024, funded by UKRI under the Future Flight Challenge Phase 3 programme, ID: 10024815.
Researcher of project Blueprint, 2022-2024, funded by UKRI under the Future Flight Challenge Phase 3 programme, ID: 10025964.
Researcher of project AMEC (Air Mobility Ecosystem Consortium), 2022-2024, funded by UKRI under the Future Flight Challenge Phase 3 programme, ID: 10023201.
