Background

Anders af Wåhlberg has been educated and worked at Uppsala University (Sweden) from 1986 until 2012. Dr af Wåhlberg has been awarded four degrees; a BA in history, an MA and a PhD in psychology, as well as the degree of Docent (usually translated as Associate Professor). From 1996 to 1998 he worked at the Stockholm School of Business, but has thereafter been doing traffic safety research, concentrating on the behaviours and crashes of bus and truck drivers. He has collaborated with the Swedish Forestry Research Institute on fuel efficient driving and the safety of extra-large trucks. He has also worked with international researchers on methodological problems in traffic safety. More recently he his research interests have been focused on conducting meta-analysis. Dr af Wåhlberg is an expert on research methodology, especially for drivers and in field studies, ecodriving, evaluations of interventions, meta-analysis, crash analysis, and questionnaire design. He has published many papers on these topics and also takes an interest in theory of science, social change, evolutionary theory and biology in general.

Current activities

Anders af Wåhlberg is currently working on the MeBeSafe project (a fuller description is under 'Current projects'), but is also involved in other research projects which concern crash and telematics data. Furthermore, he is writing papers about meta-analysis and various aspects of crash involvement, such as the effect of driving experience and culpability of crashes.
