Background

Dannielle completed her BSc in Environmental Sciences at the University of East Anglia, focusing her thesis research on North Atlantic fish distribution in relation to sea surface temperatures during a 21-year time period. She continued at the same University to complete her MSc in Climate Change, with a thesis on the public perceptions of reduced meat consumption producing the single highest mark awarded in that cohort.

Current activities

Dannielle is carrying out her PhD research within the Soil, Agrifood and Biosciences institute at Cranfield University. Her PhD research focuses on the mechanistic understanding of the application of biostimulants on soil properties and processes linked with improving crop quality. Specifically, the interactions between seaweed extract, humic substances and protein hydrolysates on soil biology as a mechanism for improving available nutrients in the soil. Alongside laboratory trials, Dannielle is working with Sainsbury's on a 3-month placement to investigate areas of agricultural intervention that can help inform Sainsbury's agricultural team and other relevant teams of 'on farm' practices that can potentially contribute to Sainsbury's commitment pillars towards sustainability across the supply chain.
