Background

I graduated from Exeter University with a BEng in Materials Engineering in 2017, fully intending to utilise this degree to go into Research and Development in the Defence Sector. After taking some personal time off, I returned to education to complete an MSc by Research (Engineering) looking into metal powder recycling and reclamation in additive manufacturing, giving me a further thirst to conduct self-guided research. I had considered another PhD on offer at Cranfield that utilised additive manufacturing, but upon seeing the option to work on armour materials at the Defence Academy, I opted to pursue this, believing it to be a more diverse topic of research.

Alongside this, I have been a member of the Army Reserves throughout my education, having commissioned in 2019 just prior to starting my PhD. This training is a passion of mine and will hopefully compliment my intended future career.

Current activities

Adding the final touches to an accepted review article in the Journal of Cleaner Production.

Working on my PhD titled "Optimisation of Novel Ceramic Armours" full time.

Assisting in the writing of a chapter of a book aimed at new students learning about additive manufacturing.
