Carla graduated from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2020 with an MSci degree in Biology. Her research thesis was based on the construction of luminescent reporter bacteriophages for the assessment of anti-tubercular drugs.

She is now a PhD student at Cranfield University, supervised by Dr. Zhugen Yang and Prof. Frederic Coulon.

Current activities

Carla’s research is focused on developing a paper-based biosensor for detection of common waterborne pathogens.

Her project aims to develop a point-of-use paper-based device, sensitive and specific for pathogen detection, to rapidly monitor drinking water of low and middle income countries.
