Areas of expertise

  • Carbon Capture and Storage
  • Renewable Energy

Background

Briggs obtained his Bachelor of Engineering Degree (First Class Honours) in Mechanical Engineering from Imo State University, Owerri Nigeria and a Master of Engineering Degree (Distinction) in Thermal Engineering from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka Nigeria. He has been involved in researches that bother on Materials, Energy, Fuels and Environment, among which is his work on reconditioning of Residual Fuel Oil (RFO) for use as a surrogate fuel in Diesel engines.

Current activities

Briggs is currently carrying out Doctoral research in Cranfield University on improving the thermal and cyclic stability of Amine functionalised adsorbents for improved CO2 capture performance. Outcome of his study is expected to improve on existing carbon capture adsorbent technology, thereby helping limit the extent of global warming to 1.5 oC which is required to meet the net-zero emissions target by 2050.
