Background

Becky has been working with Cranfield University since the end of 2011, after she freshly graduated from University with a BSc (Hons) in Geography. She works as part of the Facilities Team helping to build and maintain databases and reports for energy and environmental management, and is heavily involved with the organisation of sustainability related events at the University, such as Green Week, Fairtrade Fortnight, and the Great Cranfield Donate event. She pushes for behaviour change and drives communication on Cranfield University’s sustainability agenda. Over the years, she has helped to achieve significant strides to improving the University’s overall environmental performance and reputation. She also acts as the main point of contact for the University’s staff and student Green Teams.

In 2016, Becky started an part time MSc in Environmental Risk Management, working with Dr Simon Jude she created a dissertation on ‘Scoping a Climate Change Adaptation strategy for Cranfield University’,  following significant damage caused during a flooding event at the University. This was followed by a thesis on ‘Developing a climate change adaptation strategy for Cranfield University’ which involved conducting a series of workshops with staff and student stakeholders from across the University. 

Current activities

Currently, Becky is working to continuously improve the environmental performance at the University,  including supporting the university in signing up to the UN Sustainable Development Accord, supporting the student  lead sustainability projects, rolling out a climate change adaptation strategy and assisting with the living Lab project.
