Contact Aya Abdelmeguid

Background

Aya completed her BA in Business Management and Human Resource Management at De Montfort University (DMU) in Leicester in 2019. While at DMU, she participated in a 1-week placement as a customer service advisor in Santander Bank in 2016. She moved on to complete her MSc in Human Resources and Organisations at London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). While at LSE, she was chosen by a software company called Sage to work on a real-life project, alongside a fellow student and the learning and development team, for her dissertation. The main objective of this research project was to predict 'level 3 evaluation' of learning and development using the sentiment analytics platform and artificial intelligence. She also completed a CIPD course as part of her master's degree, and has successfully became an associate member of the CIPD and obtained a level 7 certificate awarded in 2021. In addition to that, she completed a 1-year internship in 2020 working as an account executive for an EdTech company called Macat. She also completed 'Introduction to Psychology' online course in 2021, which was authorised by Yale University. Aya is continuing her successful academic path, and is now a full-time PhD student at Cranfield University focusing her research on circular economy in the fashion industry.

Current activities

Aya is carrying out her PhD within the School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing, within the Manufacturing department. Her PhD research focuses on circular economy in the fashion. Her PhD is supervised by Dr. Mohamed Shararah and Prof. Konstantinos Salonitis. Together they published a paper entitled 'Investigating the Challenges of Applying the Principles of Circular Economy in the Fashion Industry' in the journal entitled 'Sustainable Production and Consumption'. They are also currently working together on a methodology paper, which uses Interpretive Structural Modelling (ISM) to Identify and map the relationships between the challenges identified in the previous paper to support decision makers in their understanding and implementation efforts.
