Background

Ms. Anjani Parsotamo earned her Bachelor and Master’s Degree in Chemical and Biochemical Engineering from the University of Lisbon (Portugal) in 2015 and 2017, respectively. In 2017, she visited Cranfield University to complete the Erasmus program where she worked on the “Performance of Mobile Biological Attached Growth Systems” for 6 months. In 2019, she completed her second MSc by research, sponsored by Warden Biomedia, in municipal wastewater treatment using Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor in Cranfield University.

Current activities

Ms. Anjani has joined Cranfield Water Science Institute as a biofilm processes researcher (KTP Associate) in collaboration with Warden Biomedia in September 2019.  Her work focuses on alternative wastewater treatment processes, using attached growth systems for biological removal of phosphorous and nitrogen. Biofilm processes enhance the retention of bacteria to deliver high quality effluents offering environmentally friendly solutions. The project involves a pilot plant demonstration to test different media configurations. The media is being evaluated in hydrodynamic and aeration tests, against different influent loads to study the efficiency of pollutant removal.

She is an affiliate member of The Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).
