Background

Alison was appointed as the Director of Student Experience in January 2018, heading up a new professional services team. She reports to the Pro-Vice-Chancellor – Education, leading on numerous initiatives, all with the objective of enhancing the student and learning experience at the University, and ensuring that the student voice is both heard and understood. Alison is a member of a number of University Committees, ensuring input into University Governance and process, and she is Secretary to Senate and Chair of the Student Experience Committee.

A graduate of London School of Economics, Alison embarked on a career in publishing within the Johnston Press Graduate Scheme and then worked for the charity the RSPB. Alison joined Cranfield in 2006 as a student administrator, before progressing to various roles within academic administration, developing her expertise in team management, quality assurance and process design. After successfully heading up the student administration in a School, Alison moved to the Research & Innovation Office in 2015, focusing on research student experience and research integrity.

A member of the Association of University Administrators (AUA), Alison co-founded the University AUA branch and in 2011 successfully completed the AUA PgCert in Academic Practice.
