Background

Alan leads the Accident Investigation Team within the Cranfield Safety and Accident Investigation Centre and has been teaching accident investigation since joining Cranfield in January 2011. Alan is one of the 6 accident investigators in residence and his primary focus is on the design and delivery of the more practical aspects of accident investigation teaching. He is also the Module Leader for the Centre’s world-renowned Fundamentals of Accident Investigation and Applied Marine Accident Investigation courses. He is also the principal lead for Cranfield’s world-renowned accident simulations. Alan is an aircraft engineer with 27 years’ service in the Royal Navy including a period as a military air accident investigator at the former Royal Navy Flight Safety & Accident Investigation Centre. Alan holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Safety & Accident Investigation from Cranfield University.
