Background
A huge passion for all areas of business partnerships, innovation, and business growth. Akkas has a wide range of experience in working with STEM businesses and is a STEM Ambassador for developing future talent pipeline. This has taught him the value of friendliness, open-mindedness and taking the initiative to make sound decisions. Takes a genuine interest in supporting businesses to innovate and grow through various knowledge exchange activities. Akkas takes great pride in his work at all times, his philosophy is that customer service is foremost and work undertaken must be to the highest quality. Akkas takes great interest in emerging technologies in particular in Aerospace, Transport Systems, Manufacturing, Defence, Big Data, Autonomous Systems, Energy Storage and IoT. Akkas has a wide range of experience in leading and managing complex projects and bids. One of the reasons Akkas enjoys his job is the opportunity to meet and connect with such a diverse range of business and ultimately adding value. In his spare time Akkas is involved in new enterprise development and is a property developer in the UAE.
Current activities
Akkas’ portfolio
includes Aerospace; Transport Systems; and Manufacturing. First connection and taster between businesses and
the university to facilitate longer term knowledge exchange, which
includes access to funding and form new collaborations, consultancy, KTPs,
engaging with the development of research information systems and advising on
the contracting process. Support a portfolio of developing innovation and
enterprise related activity - leading on relationship management, communicating
effectively with colleagues, and facilitating other expert advice to
successfully design, negotiate and deliver large-scale projects.
Akkas is the Strategic University Partner lead for a number
of key relationships and maximises their effectiveness and to identify and
bring to fruition new research opportunities.
