Pool Re is delighted to be providing funding for up to five scholarships for UK students undertaking the MSc in Counterterrorism, Risk Management and Resilience.

Pool Re, established in 1993 in the wake of the Bishopsgate bomb, planted by the Provisional IRA, empowers the private insurance market to provide cover for terrorism following a market failure. Currently it reinsures over £2 trillion of exposure in commercial property to terrorism risk across the UK mainland.

Pool Re works closely with a number of academic institutions on research and modelling projects. Cranfield is an important strategic partner for Pool Re in its quest to improve the resilience of UK plc to terrorism risk. Increasing risk awareness across its stakeholder network and investing in risk management and mitigation are core elements of Pool Re’s strategy.

Support for the scholarship reflects Pool Re’s commitment to underpin effective responses to the terrorism threat, by continually looking to enhance its capability and provide value and resilience to the UK economy. The scholarship is intended to help further the knowledge and education of specialists in counterterrorism, risk management and risk mitigation.
