Consisting of the 15th Electro-Optics & Infrared and 8th Radio Frequency EW Conferences

Overview

This year, the Electro-Optics & Infrared and Radio Frequency EW Conferences will be prepared, organised and hosted as a joint Electronic Warfare and Countermeasures Technology Conference with options to attend all or part of the event. This event will be hosted at the Defence Academy of the UK, Shrivenham during the period of 19th to 23rd June 2017 in a suitably classified environment, open to both UK and NATO personnel. Specific days (Day 1 and 2) will be dedicated to EOIR and (Day 4 and 5) to RF aspects of Electronic Warfare with one day (Day 3) dedicated to technology integration. You can choose to attend the complete event or the EOIR and RF days separately with the middle day (Day 3) included.

This is a unique opportunity for the technology experts from across Industry, Government and Academia to develop and socialise the future of Electronic Warfare Technology and its role in providing future information superiority capability. The event will be held at SECRET and will be open to NATO NAFAG ACG3 SG2 nations only. There will be an opportunity to hold a selected UK SECRET UKEO session on Monday or Friday mornings.

The event is organized and run by Symposia at Shrivenham on behalf of Cranfield Defence and Security and Dstl, in a relaxed atmosphere within secure surroundings with lunches and refreshments included.  An all-inclusive Symposium Dinner on day 2 will be held once again in the award-winning STEAM, museum of the Great Western Railway.

Theme

The modern battlefield has recently experienced a step change in the proliferation of battlefield technology. Modern adversaries utilise a variety of technical capabilities, ranging from dedicated military equipment through to highly capable and commercially available civilian technologies. As a result the military doctrine and Training, Tactics and Procedures are being increasingly dominated by technology – both from the technology available to the adversary and the technology available to us.

The key theme of 2017 Electronic Warfare and Countermeasures Technology Conference will be The Role of Technology in Developing Doctrine. This event is aimed at the full spectrum of scientists and engineers with the aim of enhancing knowledge and understanding across the domain of electronic warfare. Key aspects will include:

  • Emerging and Contingent Technology Threat
  • Future Platform Protection Technologies and Techniques
  • EW technology within future systems architecture
  • Operations in degraded EW environments
  • Technology as a driver for future capability
  • The role of CEMA in addressing the congested, cluttered and contested electromagnetic environment
