As part of the Distinguished Virtual Seminar Series in Archaeological Science, the Cranfield Forensic Institute will host Prof Patrick Degryse (Leuven) for a talk entitled:

The life, death and rebirth of isotope analysis in archaeological science

Isotope ratio analysis has been applied with varying success in the archaeological sciences for several decades. While applications in subsistence, environmental and mobility research appear to be flying high, the use of isotopic analysis in technology and provenance studies suffers from continuing debate on relevance and applicability. In this talk, a paradigm shift for the application of isotope studies in archaeology will be suggested.
