Are you ready for the coming of the robots! Robots can undertake all sorts of repetitive tasks from building cars in factories to vacuuming your house. But how do they work?

This short course helps the understanding and the use of Industrial Robots; it covers the core concepts about kinematics, planning and control. This will help to embed the robots to be the part of digital twin.

The aim of this shortcourse is to provide delegates with the necessary knowledge and understanding for the industrial robot kinematics, trajectory, and control to solve real world industrial problems within the domain of robotics and beyond.

Learn how an industrial 6-axes anthropomorphic robot works. We will start by building its kinematic model step-by-step, then plan geometrical paths and optimize motion trajectories. We will describe calibration procedures for the arm, tool and cell.

This shortcourse aims to provide delegates with the fundamental knowledge for solving robot control problems that will be applicable in the design of robot control systems. The contents covers control theories that are essential for the control of robot manipulators as well as mobile robots.

Course structure

This short course is delivered over the course of nine days as half day sessions with morning lectures followed by afternoon lab exercises. Delegates are given the opportunity in lab exercises to develop distributed cloud-enabled applications using industry standard software, and to deploy their applications on an openstack-based cloud platform.

On successful completion delegates should be able to:

  1. Examine a given control problem and appraise the suitability of a control system as a solution.
  2. Construct Forward Kinematic and Inverse Kinematic solutions for a Multi Degree of Freedom Robots.
  3. Design a feedback control system for solving a real world situation.
  4. Construct the path and motion planning of a robot manipulator for solving a practical task.
