We’ve designed our application process to be as easy as possible. You will be asked to create an account, allowing you to save and retrieve your application at any time. Our application form can be used for both individual and group registrations. Further details regarding our application process can be found below. For MoD applications please use this form.

  1. When you submit your application, you do not need to provide payment at this stage – you will be invoiced when your application has been approved.
  2. Once your application has been approved*, you will receive confirmation in writing via email. An invoice will be sent to the contact details provided in your application within 10 working days. Details on our payment terms can be found in our full terms and conditions below. Some Cranfield University short courses are delivered at the Defence Academy of the United Kingdom, Shrivenham, which is a Ministry of Defence (MoD) site. All applicants to courses that are wholly or partially delivered at Shrivenham will be subject to MoD approval**.
  3. If you need to transfer or cancel your application, please see our full terms and conditions below to view our transfer and cancellation policies.
  4. Pre-course joining information and any pre-reading materials will be sent to delegates three to four weeks prior to the commencement of the programme.

If you need any assistance or experience any issues with completing the form, please contact our Professional Development Team on 01234 754189.

*We advise applicants that the average response time for a decision to be made in relation to their application is 48 hours. If you haven’t received any information after 10 days of applying, we would advise you to contact the University again.

**All applicants to courses that are wholly or partially delivered at Shrivenham must hold a security clearance to UK Government’s Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) level or higher. Applicants who do not hold this level of security will be asked to complete a BPSS clearance application, if attending for more than 10 days in any one year. If attending for less than 10 days in any one year, the BPSS clearance will not be required, but the completed short course application form will be passed to the MoD for vetting.

This information will be returned by the MoD to Cranfield University after checks are completed and copies will not be retained by the MoD. BPSS checks may involve confirmation of the following:

  • Identity (such as photo ID),
  • Nationality, including dual, and immigration status,
  • Employment/academic history (covering the past three years),
  • Criminal record (unspent convictions only).

This process may be revised from time to time dependent on national security requirements. For more details, please consult the Government's BPSS Guidance. It will take additional time to process your BPSS clearance application once you have completed your course application.

PLEASE NOTE: The MoD has ultimate discretion over admission to the Shrivenham site. If you are not able to access the Shrivenham site because of a failure to meet security clearance requirements, your application to attend the short course will be declined.
