The water utility sector is on a journey of improved risk governance. Contract research and consultancy undertaken for the US Water Research Foundation and an international consortium of public and private sector water utilities produced practical guidance for utility executives on aligning their risk management efforts with other corporate decision-processes - for the purposes of improved long-term planning.
Conducted over 24 months and deploying research studies and deep engagement with water sector representatives, the project extended Cranfield’s historic work on risk management for this sector (since 2003-) and has paved the way for a new funded study on enterprise resilience for water utilities
