From ground-breaking aero-engineers to leaders in global organisations, Cranfield’s Aerospace and Aviation Alumni Awards recognise and celebrate the outstanding achievements of our alumni community.

Following the launch of the awards in 2020, with the award ceremonies and lectures from our Distinguished Alumni Award winners taking place in November 2020 as part of Cranfield’s Aerospace and Aviation Week, nominations are now open for the Cranfield Aerospace and Aviation Alumni Awards 2021.

Graduate alumni from the Schools of Aerospace, Transport, and Manufacturing – along with all former schools associated with aerospace and aviation, including the College of Aeronautics and the School of Engineering, can be nominated in the four award categories.

Professor Helen Atkinson CBE, FREng, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, School of Aerospace, Transport and Manufacturing at Cranfield University, said: “Cranfield’s Aerospace and Aviation Alumni Awards celebrate the inspirational achievements of our alumni community across the globe. Our award winners are leaders and rising stars in their fields who have used their experience of studying at Cranfield University to make a positive impact on their organisation, industry, and profession.”

Aerospace and aviation have been a part of Cranfield from its earliest days, when it was founded as the College of Aeronautics on a former RAF base in 1946. We are proud heirs to that history of being at the forefront of aviation and aerospace research and education, and our alumni are continuing that tradition by developing new capabilities in aircraft electrification, unmanned aerial vehicle technology, and urban mobility.

Both the Distinguished Aerospace Alumni award and the Distinguished Aviation Alumni Award celebrate alumni who have achieved significant success within the aerospace industry while upholding the highest standards in industry practice. They are also regarded as role models for leadership and have international influence and experience of working across different geographic regions.

The Excellence in Achievement Awards for Recent Aerospace and Aviation Graduates recognise alumni who have made significant progress in their careers within ten years of graduating from Cranfield. These awards celebrate those who have the potential to reach the highest levels of success in the future.

Last year our selection panel faced the difficult task of having to select the winners from an impressive list of nominations and this year is set to be no easier.
