As part of our commitment to support and develop technical staff across the University, we became a founding signatory of the Science Council's Technician Commitment.

The Technician Commitment is a university and research institution initiative, led by a steering group of sector bodies with support from a wide, collaborative initiative led by the Science Council and supported by the 'Technicians Make It Happen' campaign. It ensures visibility, recognition, career development and sustainability for technicians working in higher education and research.

On 28 September 2018, the Vice-Chancellor officially launched the Technician Commitment at an event open to all staff. The event was attended by many members of staff who all pledged their support to the Commitment. You can read the pledges made here.

Cranfield University Technician Commitment Action Plan

Cranfield is a versatile place to work. Every day is different. There is always scope for personal and professional development and opportunities to work on new challenges.
I have taken more interest in the work of technicians and, if people are looking at an apprentice role, I say “Have you considered an apprenticeship at Cranfield? They offer really good Technician roles."
