Director, Cranfield Defence and Security Leadership and Head of Centre for Defence Management and Leadership (CDML)

Frank has lived and worked on four different continents and has more than 10 years’ executive experience including ICI in the UK. He became Professor of Global Human Resource Management, specialising in emerging markets, in January 2014. Prior to this, he was Director of Cranfield School of Management from April 2009 to December 2013. He holds a joint appointment in Cranfield Defence and Security and the School of Management.

He was previously Director of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) University of Cape Town (UCT), as well as holding visiting professorial posts in the Netherlands, Singapore and Canada.

Frank has co-authored a number of books and is also widely published, presenting at conferences around the world. He is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Association of Business Schools (ABS), a member of the British Academy of Management (BAM) and former President of the South African Business Schools’ Association (SABSA).

His research interests include human resource management (HRM) in emerging markets and emerging market multinational corporations, cross-cultural and international HRM strategies, leading and managing knowledge workers, organisational change and redesign, mergers and acquisitions, employment equity and diversity and workplace flexibility.

As well as being on the editorial boards of a number of leading international journals, he has served on company boards and has acted as a consultant in organisational change and human capital strategies for companies and governments in Canada, Namibia, South Africa and the UK.
