Director of Information Technology and member of the University Executive

David joined Cranfield University as Director of Information Technology in October 2021, reporting to the Chief Operating Officer.

He leads the University’s Information Services Professional Service Unit, a vital service for the University, responsible for all IT infrastructure and security, business applications, learning and teaching applications, research computing including High Performance Computing, and IT support.

David has over 35 years’ experience in IT, starting with a PhD in Computer Science from the University of Nottingham. After a 12 year career in commercial software development at Experian, he moved back to Higher Education responsible for business, learning and research applications at Nottingham. This was followed by a move to the University of Hertfordshire, taking up the role of Chief Information Officer, responsible for Library and Computing Services, in 2014.
