Information for Nigerian students wishing to study a postgraduate programme at Cranfield University

Cranfield University has a vibrant international community and is becoming a preferred destination for a growing number of Nigerian students.

We currently have 108 students from Nigeria studying with us.

A large number of Cranfield courses are on the recommended course lists by funding bodies like PTDF, NNDC, and Federal Ministry of Education, TET Fund, and National Universities Commission of Nigeria for those students applying for Government Scholarships to study abroad.

In addition to having good links with the funding bodies Cranfield has collaborative agreement with the Nigerian Air Force whereby selected officers enroll on our Aerospace courses. Cranfield also has MOUs with the top public and private universities in Nigeria. Our staff regularly visits Nigeria where they present at partner universities, meet alumni and representatives of funding bodies.

Academic requirements

Our general entry requirement is a UK Honours degree (minimum second class lower) or international equivalent. Our Admissions Office staff have extensive knowledge of a wide range of qualifications from all over the world and will assess your qualifications against our UK entry requirements. Applications are considered on an individual basis and the information provided here is intended as a general guide. Holding this level of qualification does not guarantee entry and some programmes may have higher entry requirements.

Requirements for individuals from Nigeria

  • Bachelor degree with Honours

Full entry requirements for individual courses can be found on the individual course pages. Please read them carefully as there can sometimes be additional requirements.

To search our courses, visit our Course Finder.

English language requirements

You will need to provide evidence of your competency in English and that this meets the requirements for the course you have applied for. Applicants who have successfully completed an undergraduate qualification from a recognised Nigerian university are not usually required to take an English test (with the exception of applicants to courses at Cranfield Defence and Security). We may however require you to take an English test if we are not satisfied that your application demonstrates a suitable level of competency.

Applicants for courses at Cranfield Defence and Security are required to pass a recognised English language test at an appropriate level (a list of the tests we recognise and minimum requirements can be found on each course page).

Please note that requirements may change from time to time and are subject to UK Visas and Immigration policy.

Country visits

Representatives from Cranfield make regular visits to Nigeria throughout the year. We attend education exhibitions, visit universities and talk to prospective students and their families.

Please view our events calendar to find out when we will next be visiting.

If you are already studying in the UK, our Open Days provide the ideal opportunity to visit the campus and meet staff and students.

My time at Cranfield was phenomenal. From the excellent, diverse and very accessible faculty, to the superb facilities, there was a great focus on the practical application of knowledge and the emphasis on acquiring the much needed soft skills that make you a well-rounded finance professional.

Michael Osakwe, Associate, Keynes Private Equity, Investment Management MSc alumnus, 2016
