Chris Hopson (MBA 1992) is one of this year’s University Honorary Graduates and is the Chief Executive of NHS Providers, the membership organisation for England’s 215 hospital, community, mental health and ambulance trusts. His organisation’s members spend £90bn of the NHS £140bn annual budget and employ 1.1 million of its 1.3 million staff. Chris has been one of the UK’s leading media commentators on the covid-19 pandemic and he will reflect on the lessons that the UK, and other nations, need to learn from the pandemic.

Chris Hopson (MBA 1992) joined NHS Providers in September 2012 as Chief Executive following a career spanning the public, private and voluntary sectors. NHS Providers is the membership organisation for the 215 NHS hospital, mental health, community and ambulance trusts that account for £92bn of annual public expenditure and employ over one million staff. NHS Providers has 100% of the sector in voluntary membership.
