BackgroundPrior to joining Cranfield Sarah worked in business development managerial roles at Bucks New University and the Open University where she successfully initiated and developed partnership opportunities in the Defence, Security and Healthcare sectors as well as managing key international partnerships including a large complex partnership in Russia. Sarah has also led and managed a large number of bid submissions including Horizon 2020 and Innovate UK projects. Most of Sarah’s career however has been spent in industry – working for the healthcare diagnostic and life sciences company Amersham plc (originally part of the UK Atomic Energy Authority) which was finally acquired by GE and became part of GE Healthcare. During her time at Amersham/GE Healthcare Sarah worked in business development roles primarily as a Business Analysis Manager investigating M&A and licensing opportunities. She has considerable experience in market analytics and competitive intelligence and as a Senior Business Intelligence Analyst reported to the CEO and senior managers to investigate and recommend strategy on a number of new business initiatives including key acquisitions and collaborations. Sarah’s academic qualifications include an MBA (Life Sciences) from the Open University, a BA (Hons) in Social Sciences (Politics and Economics) and a PG Cert in Organisational Resilience.
Current activitiesIdentifying opportunities for research income development and supporting research staff in developing their partnerships with the private sector, building existing relationships, widening Cranfield's client base and diversifying funding streams and mechanisms.
Supporting specific themes of Defence and Security and Leadership and Management as well as across schools Healthcare area.
