Background

Professor Brennan has for 25 years been at the forefront of internationally leading research in structural integrity and its application to ships, offshore renewables and the oil & gas sector. He has published over 150 papers in peer reviewed technical journals and conferences.

In addition to research, development and consultancy, Feargal has been executive and non-executive director of a number of technology companies and received several awards from the dti, rail and offshore industries for innovation in structural integrity monitoring of large civil and mechanical infrastructure.


Current activities

Professor Brennan is Director of Energy and Power at Cranfield University, leading a team of over 200 academics and researchers engaged in research and training in Energy Engineering, Technologies and Resource Management.Energy Research at Cranfield is focused towards low carbon and conventional energy supply, power generation, advanced fuel technologies and transport systems. In addition to research, Energy and Power at Cranfield trains approximately 200 MSc students annually and currently has 150 full-time doctoral students.
 
Feargal is a leading authority on the development and assessment of offshore renewables including wind, wave, tidal stream. He has for over twenty-five years been at the forefront of internationally leading research in structural integrity and its application to ships, offshore renewables and the oil & gas sector. He has published over one hundred and fifty papers in peer reviewed technical journals and conferences and sits on numerous national and international committees concerning structural integrity and offshore renewable energy including current chairmanship of the International Ship and Offshore Structures Congress' Fatigue & Fracture Technical committee. He is director of the Cranfield - Oxford University Renewable Energy Marine Structures (REMS) Centre for Doctoral Training.
