Gabriele obtained a MEng in Aeronautics & Astronautics from the University of Southampton in 2019. During his time in Southampton, Gabriele focused on Aeronautical Structures and UAV design. Upon completion of his Master, Gabriele joined Cranfield University for his postgraduate research thanks to an EPSRC funded studentship on Non-linear model reduction for flexible structures. 

Gabriele is a Chartered Industrial Engineer in Italy (Dott. Ing.) within the Association of Engineers of the Province of Sassari, an Associate of the Royal Aeronautical Society (ARAeS) and a Member of the Italian Association of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIDAA).

Current activities

Gabriele is a PhD student in the Centre for Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems working on a thesis titled Identification of Flexible Structures Dynamics

His main research areas include Structural Dynamics, Structural Modelling, System Identification, Structural Health Monitoring, Experimental Modal Analysis, and Optimisation.

In his PhD, Gabriele is developing a reduced order model for the structural behaviour of a flexible wing under experimental conditions. For this aim, Gabriele works on the implementation of novel System Identification methods for the extraction of modal parameters in mechanical systems and the development of an advanced surrogate modelling technique for Finite Element Model Updating and Structural Health Monitoring. Also, Gabriele run extensive experimental work, Linear and Nonlinear Modal Analysis, on a flexible wing model to characterise its structural behaviour. 

Gabriele is a member of the Autonomous Systems Dynamics & Control Research Group, within the Centre for Autonomous and Cyber-Physical Systems, and of the Dynamics Simulation and Control Group, within the Centre for Aeronautics.
