This course will provide an understanding of the principles and practical applications of the major forensic analytical techniques used in Forensic Intelligence (FORINT) and exploitation.

On successful completion of this course you will be able to:

  • Distinguish evidential types for use in court and for intelligence purposes
  • Evaluate the levels and range of forensic exploitation techniques
  • Manage and prioritise the exploitation of forensic intelligence derived from people, places and vehicles
  • Critically assess how forensic intelligence interfaces with other intelligence sources
  • Establish and maintain a FORINT exploitation policy within the frameworks of forensic best practice and the recognized intelligence cycle.

Upgrade to a professional qualification

This course will be taught at Masters standard as it is one of the modules that comprise the postgraduate Forensic Modular Masters Programme. Registering for this Short Course for Credit and successfully passing the associated assessment will gain you 10 Cranfield credits. These could then be used to apply for a transfer towards a PgCert/PgDip or MSc in the Forensic Programme should you wish to complete one of these courses within 5 years.

This course is suited to those considering a career in civil or military intelligence roles, and as continuing professional development for current intelligence professionals seeking to understand more about tools and processes that can enhance the fusion of different intelligence sources, particularly using geospatial and open source information. As such it is also a useful course for anyone in an analyst role in other finance and government organisations.

Location and travel

Situated close to Milton Keynes and Bedford, the Cranfield campus is situated in Wharley End, very close to Cranfield village, and is about 10 minutes from the M1 motorway.  There is rail and road access to most major airports as well as coach and train stations. Cranfield campus also has its own airport for private executive business travel.
