What to do about living at Cranfield
If studying amidst the bright lights, noise and bustle of a big city is what you have in mind, then Cranfield University is possibly not for you. But if you like the idea of a quiet, focused and mature study environment, then Cranfield could be just what you are after.
With some 2,500 students on campus, you'll find a close-knit community of skilled and ambitious individuals. The peaceful location offers just the place for you to focus on your studies – yet you'll be just a short distance from Milton Keynes and Bedford, and only about an hour by road or rail from London, Oxford and Cambridge.
Accommodation options
A safe and comfortable place to live will be one of your main priorities when considering a university, and Cranfield offers you a range of choices to suit your circumstances.
On campus
On the Cranfield campus you can choose from houses for families; studio apartments for couples; self-catering shared houses; and three halls of residence with single study/bedrooms – all just a couple of minutes from your lecture halls and the campus shops, bars and restaurants. You'll find many of your additional questions answered in the Frequently Asked Questions section; if not, do feel free to contact us for advice.
If you have not yet applied for your on campus accommodation, we encourage you to do so as soon as possible - you can do this from your home page in our EVE system. You can also respond to you accommodation offer and pay your deposit online.
Off campus
If you would prefer to live in private accommodation away from the campus, there are the towns of Bedford, Milton Keynes and Newport Pagnell, the nearby village of Cranfield, or other nearby villages where we can help you to find an affordable place to rent.
There are good transport links from Bedford and Milton Keynes to the campus, but do think about transport carefully if you are considering accommodation in villages other than Cranfield, as you will almost certainly need the use of a car.
You'll find everything you need to know on our off-campus accommodation pages, including links to information about the surrounding area, as well as a searchable property database.
Please see our arrival and registration information about accessing your accommodation when you arrive.
