EDGE Innovation Network Cranfield University Defence and Security has become a member of a network which links businesses in the defence and security sector.

The EDGE® Innovation Network is a collaborative, open-environment initiative enabling industry and academia, with government input, to work together to enhance the delivery cycle of new technologies and innovative capabilities to military personnel, law enforcement and first responders.

Cranfield Defence and Security Director, Simon Harwood, said: “We are delighted to join the EDGE® Innovation Network where our world-leading academic expertise in military and security will enable science and technology innovations to be put into use.”

In joining the EDGE® Innovation Network, Cranfield Defence and Security will work with other like-minded organisations and individuals to accelerate the development of new technologies and innovations for the military and emergency services.

Pete Palmer, director of the EDGE® Innovation Network said, “The global network of EDGE Innovation Centres offer an ecosystem for the rapid development of technologies, products and systems that close capability gaps for government end users.”

Current network member In Motion Technology Inc has used the EDGE® Innovation Network to make sure that wi-fi technology is meeting the needs of emergency response personnel.
