Whether your course is being held at the Cranfield campus, or the Shrivenham campus we are pleased to assist you in securing suitable accommodation for the duration of your studies.
At the Cranfield campus we offer a wide range of accommodation options for our students; including accommodation for full-time single students, couples and families. All of our on campus accommodation is located within a short walking distance to all other on campus facilities.
You may prefer to live off campus in the local community; we also maintain listings of private accommodation - from rooms in shared houses, to apartments and family homes.
On campus accommodation at the Shrivenham campus is prioritised for British military students; however, we are pleased to assist you in securing private accommodation in the local area.
Once you have been offered a place on one of our full-time courses based at the Cranfield campus, you will be eligible to apply for accommodation.
With your course offer you will be sent a login and password for the student web portal (EVE), where you can apply for accommodation online.
Our accommodation is very popular and we strongly recommend that you make your application as soon as you receive your EVE login information.
We offer accommodation in the order the applications are received and they are prioritised as follows:
- Special consideration for medical reasons**
- New students
- Current students
** If you feel your application requires special consideration due to a medical condition, you must make us aware at the time you apply for accommodation. We will ask you to supply a current medical letter from your doctor which explains why your application for on campus accommodation should be prioritied on medical grounds.
We guarantee an offer of accommodation to all new students who make their application for single student accommodation on, or before, the 13th May, providing your course starts in October that year.
We have a wide range of accommodation on campus including rooms with private bathroom facilities (en suite) and those with shared bathroom facilities. We are also pleased to offer both catered and self catered accommodation.
Our single rooms are located in:
If your partner will be coming to Cranfield to live with you for the whole duration of your full-time course, and you do not have any children coming with you, you will be able to apply for a studio apartment in Fedden House.
We regret that we are not able to guarantee of an offer of couple’s accommodation as it is very popular.
If your family will be coming to Cranfield with you for the whole duration of a full-time course, and you have one or more children accompanying you, you will be eligible to apply for a family house.
We have two, three and four bedroom houses which we allocate based on the number and age of the children in your family.
We regret that we are not able to guarantee of an offer of family accommodation as this type of accommodation is always very popular.
Not all of our students live on campus; we are pleased to be able to help you find privately rented accommodation if you would prefer to live in the local area.
As well as the nearby village of Cranfield, other popular areas include: Wootton, Marston Mortaine, North Crawley, Newport Pagnell, Kempston, Bedford, Milton Keynes and Woburn Sands.

There are three types of accommodation available for military students at the Shrivenham campus:
- Single rooms on campus in the Officers' Mess accommodation
- Married Quarters
- Privately rented accommodation.
The first two categories are available to British military students. Although military students from overseas are not entitled to occupy these types of accommodation, they may be able to do so if there is spare capacity. This option is not open to civilian students but we can assist you in finding rooms or houses to rent in the local area.
MOD sponsored single military students should contact the Accommodation Officer at the Shrivenham Station Officers Mess:
Tel: +44 (0) 1793 785929
If you are a MOD sponsored military student and you require married accommodation, please contact the Defence Infrastructure Organisation:
Tel: 0800 1696322
Mil: 94510 8000
From overseas: +44 (0) 1904 418000
Many of our students live in privately rented houses or rooms in shared houses; either in the nearby villages of Shrivenham or Watchfield, or in local towns such a Faringdon and Swindon. For further information of private properties available in the Shrivenham area, please visit our listings.
To travel to the campus, there is a regular bus service from Swindon to Faringdon calling in at the Shrivenham campus and the Defence Academy.
If you need any assistance in securing private rental accommodation for your studies, please contact Student Accommodation at the Shrivenham campus.
If you are coming from overseas we strongly advise you not to bring your family to the UK until satisfactory accommodation arrangements have been made.
On campus accommodation is limited and priority has to be given to British military students. Normally, students from overseas, both military and civilian, will need to secure privately rented accommodation. For further information of private properties available in the Shrivenham area, please visit our listings.
For further information or assistance, please contact Student Accommodation
There is no short-term accommodation on the Shrivenham campus; however, there are several privately owned bed and breakfast establishments and hotels in the local area.

If you are attending the pre-sessional English for Academic Purposes (EAP) course and your follow-on course (postgraduate taught or research programme) is being held at the Cranfield campus, please ensure you apply for accommodation for your follow-on course as soon as you receive your EVE login information, as on campus accommodation is always very popular.
We aim to offer you the same room for the EAP and your follow-on course, if possible. If we are not able to offer you accommodation for your follow-on course, we aim to offer you temporary accommodation for the duration of the EAP.
If you plan to bring your partner or family to live with you during your studies and have booked couples’ or family accommodation at the Cranfield campus for your follow-on course, we strongly suggest that you attend the EAP course as a single person, so we may offer you temporary accommodation for duration of the course. We suggest you make arrangements for your partner or family to join you once your follow-on course has started as we do not often have couples’ and family accommodation available during the summer months, as the properties are occupied.
If your follow-on course is being held at the Shrivenham campus, we aim to offer you temporary single accommodation at the Cranfield campus for the duration of your EAP.
You should expect to receive information about accommodation for your EAP course 3 to 4 weeks before the EAP course begins.
If you have any questions about accommodation for the EAP course please contact the Accommodation Office.
