How to apply

Cranfield welcomes applications from students from all over the world for both our taught and research postgraduate programmes.

You can apply online for most of our postgraduate courses. If you are interested in applying for a course at our Defence and Security School (on our Shrivenham Campus) then the process is slightly different and you will need to download and fill in an application form.

Our programmes are highly competitive and although there are no set application deadlines we recommend applying as early as possible to secure your place. This is particularly important if you also want to apply for on-campus accommodation or need to apply for a visa to study in the UK, as these activities will take additional time after your course offer has been made.

Applying for more than one course

Applications for Cranfield campus courses

You are welcome to submit more than one course application to us, but we are only able to consider one application at a time. If you submit a second application whilst your first application is in progress, we will usually contact you to confirm which application is your first choice and which one you would like to put on hold.

Applications for Shrivenham campus courses (CDS)

It is possible for you to be considered for more than one course if you are applying to study at Cranfield Defence and Security at the Shrivenham Campus. However you can only be accepted on one course at a time.

Applying for a research course

If you wish to undertake a research course with us (such as a PhD, MPhil or a MSc by Research), a member of staff from the Doctoral Training Centre will be happy to discuss your options with you. You can take this approach if you have a particular area of research in mind and have developed a brief research proposal, or if you have already been awarded funding to undertake a specific area of research.

It is also possible to apply for an advertised research position (studentship). View current research opportunities.

This opportunity is available to all former students on both campuses. If you would like to enhance your existing qualification with us, please contact the Admissions Office and include your former student number in your email so that we can look into your request further.

When you complete your application form, please provide details of the short course(s) you have taken in your Personal Statement and ask for your existing credits to be transferred.
