Social Scene at Shrivenham
The Cranfield University campus at Shrivenham is in the picturesque Vale of the White Horse on the edge of Shrivenham village, six miles from Swindon and 22 miles from Oxford.
Swindon is the nearest centre to Shrivenham for amenities such as large supermarkets, a shopping centre and sport and leisure facilities.
There are several night clubs, lots of pubs, a wide selection of places to eat out, a bowling alley, two multi-screen cinemas and local theatres.
The Link Centre hosts an ice rink, swimming pool, sports hall, squash courts, health suite, library and community suite, snooker tables, theatre, cinema and art and craft workshops.
Where to get involved in sports?
We have a wide range of facilities, including a golf course, an outdoor heated swimming pool and riding stables. Many clubs, supported by both students and staff, take you further afield, such as canoeing, mountaineering, parachuting, gliding, subaqua, potholing and sailing. For the truly adventurous, there are once-in-a-lifetime opportunities for international travel. You can take part in the annual summer expedition, via membership of the relevant sports club. Recent trips have included camel trekking in Australia, scuba diving in the Caribbean and trekking in Venezuela, India, Thailand, Nepal, France, Spain, Canada and the USA.
