Chilver Hall was opened in 2009 and features 106 study bedrooms, of 13sqm, with en suite (private) bathroom facilities. There are internet data points in every room. 

Each study bedroom features: a mirror, wardrobe, drawers, bed, desk, chair, notice board and wastepaper bin. All bedrooms have full-width windows, which make the best use of natural daylight.

Typically, well-equipped kitchens are shared between seven students. Each kitchen features: cooker, microwave, kettle, toaster, cooking utensils, eating utensils, fridge and freezer. There is also a communal dining table and chairs.

There is a no smoking policy in all bedrooms and residential communal areas.

Two types of rooms are available in Chilver Hall - standard and premier en suite. The premier en suite rooms were previously part of Lanchester Hall and were built in 2006.

Catering

This accommodation is self-catering.  There will be a kitchen/dining area for every seven rooms.  Kitchens are fully fitted with adequate cupboard space for each study bedroom, incorporating dinner plate, side plate, bowl, mug, glass and eating utensils.  There is a fridge, freezer, cooker, microwave, toaster, kettle, iron, ironing board and vacuum cleaner for shared use.  Cooking utensils, saucepans, casserole dishes, colanders, chopping boards and knives are provided.  There is a table and chairs for dining.  For those who want a break from cooking, you'll find there are numerous options for eating on campus including restaurants, bars and cafés.

Cleaning

You will be responsible for cleaning your own room and for keeping communal areas tidy.  Cleaning of communal areas is carried out by housekeeping staff.

Heating and electricity

Heating (normally on from October to April) and electricity are included in the accommodation fee.

Other facilities

The building has a lift to all floors and access to launderette facilities. The reception at Lanchester Hall, which is open Monday to Saturday is also available.

Chilver Hall is located between Lanchester Hall and the shared houses on West Road and The Drive.

These rates are for 2013-14 and all rates are subject to change for 2014-2015. Prices will usually increase for current, and new students, at the start of each new academic session.
