Bedrooms and bathrooms
Study bedrooms are on average 12.2m2. Facilities with each bedroom include: a wash basin, mirror, fitted wardrobe, drawers, bed, bedside cabinet, desk, chair, notice board, study lamp and wastepaper bin. There are Internet data points and a telephone in every room. Bathrooms at Mitchell Hall are shared.
A bedding pack will be placed in the accommodation before arrival – see Frequently Asked Questions. There is a launderette on the campus for you to use.
There is a no smoking policy in all bedrooms and residential communal areas.
Catering
Mitchell Hall is a catered hall of residence; you'll receive a food allowance sufficient for one meal per day, and extra meals can be purchased as required. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served within the B.L.D., which is our popular student dining room. Students are welcome to use this or one of our other catering outlets: Café 52 or Cranberries. A small number of kitchenettes are available at Mitchell Hall; these feature a kettle, small shared fridge and microwave suitable for preparing snacks.
Cleaning
Study bedrooms and shared bathroom facilities are cleaned weekly by housekeeping staff.
Heating and electricity
Heating (normally on from October to April) and electricity are included in the accommodation fee.
Other facilities
Why not relax after your lectures in the Mitchell Hall bar and lounge area, which has a television, newspapers and pool table. Or have a game of squash on one of our two courts! Mitchell Hall’s friendly reception staff aim to make your stay a pleasant and comfortable one. The desk is open daily, providing a focal point for assistance and information. Mitchell Hall also has an equipped computer room linked to the university network and is open 24 hours a day.
Rates (2013-14 academic session)
- Mitchell Hall, standard catered room (154 rooms in total*): £117.50 per week (£16.79 per day)
- Mitchell Hall, en suite catered room (3 rooms in total*): £152.75 per week (£21.82 per day)
These rates are for 2013-14 and all rates are subject to change for 2014-2015. Prices will usually increase for current, and new students, at the start of each new academic session.
