Research expertise

Cranfield Defence & Security (CDS)*

Research at CDS is undertaken in a number of areas of expertise: aerospace, power and sensors; defence management and security analysis; information systems; materials and applied science; engineering systems.

Cranfield Health

Research in Cranfield Health focuses on the following areas: bioinformatics; biosensors and diagnostics; environment and health; food quality; healthcare operations management; smart materials, and translational medicine

School of Applied Sciences

There are four key themes of research within the School of Applied Sciences: manufacturing; materials; natural resources, and sustainable systems.

School of Engineering

Our School of Engineering’s research is focused on aerospace engineering and air transport; computational science and engineering; engineering photonics, and structures and machine systems.

School of Management

Research at the School of Management is devoted to making contributions to the knowledge and practice of management and leadership, and aims to be both academically rigorous and relevant to practitioners. We offer an executive doctoral programme (DBA) as well as the PhD programme, which itself is offered on either a full or part-time basis.
